The optimum heat treatment improves the properties of all of the metallic materials. The samples were quenched after heat treatment at 750<sup>o</sup>C, at 1060<sup>o</sup>C, in air and water, respectively. Corrosion tests were performed by using Open Circiut Potential Method (OCP) method in the sea water. The corrosion resistance of the titanium samples was determined from obtained Nyquist plot. Microstructure images were presented via SEM instrument. As a result of the evaluations made, heat treatment at 1050<sup>o</sup>C more developed the focused alloy then that of at 750<sup>o</sup>C.</p> Hülya Demirören; Yesim Yilmaz Copyright (c) 2021 Materials and Biomaterials Science Wed, 04 Aug 2021 00:00:00 +0200 Design and construction of a turbine flowmeter based on the Hall effect to measure volumetric air flow rate <p>In the current work, details about the design, setting up, and function analysis of a turbine flow meter for volumetric air flow rate measurement have been presented. When the fluid flows through the turbine, a quantity of kinetic energy is transferred from the fluid to the turbine blades causing the turbine rotating. The meter was equipped with a hall effect sensor SS406S to detect the magnetic field change of the rotating magnet that is fixed with the turbine. The sensor output signal was amplified and acquired by the Arduino microcontroller, and the pulse frequency was subsequently determined. The latter is proportional to the turbine’s rotation speed. By calibrating the turbine flow meter, i.e., giving a mathematical function that relates the volumetric flow rate to the output frequency signal, the instantaneous flow rate can be provided in both forms; data acquisition in excel sheet and data display in a digital indicator. The proposed flow meter's performance testing shows that the obtained results are very close to those obtained by the rotameter flow meter, which is used in the calibration process.</p> Ammar Zeghloul, Abdelwahid Azzi, Nabil Ghendour Copyright (c) 2021 Materials and Biomaterials Science Tue, 15 Jun 2021 00:00:00 +0200 Development of an electrode material based on gold/manganese dioxide <p>In this work, manganese dioxide semiconductor was electrodeposited on a gold subs- trate in the aim to increase its electric conductivity; using two deferent electrochemical methods (Cyclic Voltammetry and Chrono-amperometry) by varying several conditions such as concentration, pH and scanning rate. Until now, scientists have searched to discover drugs for its efficacious treatment to prevent or treat the disease of the pandemic COVID-19. Due to the rapid emergence of the pandemic in all geographic, unavailable of vaccine, clinical presentation and specific diagnostic tests imaginable challenges are proposed to combat this epidemic. Hydroxychloroquine and similar medication called Chloroquine, are shown to have apparent efficacy and acceptable safety against coronas virus wich were recommended as a treatment protocol of COVID-19 pandemic until a vaccine for COVID-19 is available but since Hydroxychloroqione HCQ and its metabolites reach wastewater treatment plant and environment where its occurence is a source of pollution and are identified as potentially persistent and bioaccumulative, behavior in the environment. Both chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine posed serious chronic threat to the aquatic organism.
